Laboratory Manager

Pharmaceutical Chemistry

40 hours per week Monday – Friday
Salary dependant on Experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Manager to join our professional Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department. You will be a motivated and committed individual to lead a team of Technicians in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry Section. The Pharmaceutical Chemistry Section is part of ILS’s Pharma Division – which provide a Quality Control and Batch Release service to the industry.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of GC, HPLC and AA instrumentation and have an in-depth working knowledge of cGMP.

This role will also involve working closely and supporting our Business Development Team, to meet business growth targets and offer technical input as required.

The person appointed should be educated to degree level in a relevant subject plus have previous laboratory management experience. Sound interpersonal skills are essential as the role involves working closely with our customers. You will be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills, be flexible in approach and be able to communicate with people of all ages and levels. Experience with quality systems and cGMP is essential.

Quality Assurance Auditor x 2 positions
 

Quality Assurance Department
Salary Dependant upon Experience

An opportunity has arisen for a Quality Assurance Auditor to join our professional QA Team. Reporting directly to the Quality Supervisor you will assist in the implementation and development of the Quality Assurance Program to assure that work conducted at ILS meets the requirements of UKAS, ISO/IEC 17025 and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Quality Management Systems if applicable.

Main Responsibilities include:-

• Support tracking of key performance indicators which provide information to be used by Quality Assurance Management to help ensure QMS is maintained whilst enhancing the quality of the company’s operations.
• Maintain awareness of national and international developments relating to the various Quality Management Systems and provide support and guidance to operations by reporting and following up issues that arise, ensuring that appropriate advice is given and that relevant action is taken to achieve a satisfactory conclusion.
• To participate in customer audits and regulatory inspections, leading these as required by QA Management and coordinating the timely collation of appropriate responses to any observations made during these audits.
• Monitor levels of compliance by planning and conducting internal audits and inspection covering all areas of the Quality Management System ensuring that these meet the requirements of UKAS and ISO/IEC 17025 and GMP where applicable.
• Report all internal audit and inspection results promptly and in writing to management and the relevant staff including those responsible for the work being audited or inspected.
• To collaborate with the QA Team to complete reviews and approval of the following documentation:- Equipment Validations and Qualification, Computerised System Validation, Technical and Confidentiality Agreements, Change Control, Deviation/Anomaly reports, Out of Specification Investigations and control the distribution of Standard Test Methods, SOP’s ensuring these are valid, approved and kept up to date.

To be successful in this role you will have experience in preparation for audit by MHRA and FDA and UKAS regulatory bodies. You will have strong experience in GMP gained by working in the pharmaceutical and/or food safety testing industry. You will hold a BSc in Chemistry/Microbiology/Life Science and have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Administrative Assistant – 6 Months Fixed Term Contract

Quality Assurance Department
Salary Dependant upon Experience

An opportunity has arisen for an Administrative Assistant to join our professional QA Team. We are seeking a candidate who has excellent Administrative experience and skills to provide a full Administration service to the QA Team.


Main Responsibilities:

  • To conduct and document routine in-house calibrations in accordance with ILS 02.01 and associated procedures.
  • To conduct routine quality control checking of those reports generated outside LIMS (in line with ILS 01.03) ensuring accuracy of content.
  • To assist, as necessary, with the operation of the quality audit system.
  • To assist with the control and distribution of Standard Test Methods, Operating Procedures and other controlled documents.

To be successful in this role you will need a good general education with a minimum of 5 GCSE passes (or equivalent) including English, Maths and Science at Grades A-C. You will have general office and accurate record keeping experience and entering data accurately and in a timely manner. Knowledge and experience of working in a Laboratory and/or QA would be desirable.

You will have exceptional attention to detail and good organisational skills. As this role involves accurate record keeping skills, you must be proficient in IT and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and able to research on the Internet. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
