International Laboratory Services (ILS) is a market leader in the provision of contract laboratory testing services in the UK, providing a wide range of UKAS accredited, GMP compliant chemical and microbiological testing to both the food and pharmaceutical industries.

ILS is an independent laboratory situated in Shardlow, Derbyshire. We are a busy, modern facility catering for a varied and wide client base. As with most companies, our clients require a fast, efficient and accurate service, therefore we need staff to help us achieve this.

Laboratory Technician

Food Chemistry Department
40 Hours a Week
Salary Dependant upon experience

An opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technician to join our professional Food Chemistry Team. The role involves carrying out routine and non-routine analytical chemistry testing in a fast paced environment. You will be supporting Technicians within the department to ensure our high quality service is maintained.

To be successful in this role you will hold a degree in Science and ideally have some laboratory experience.

The successful candidate will require the following skills:-

• Ability to work in a Team
• Good communication skills
• Good time management skills
• Flexible in your work approach
• Accuracy and Speed
• Attention to detail


This position is 40 hours a week - Monday to Friday, with a 30 minute break.

The opportunity to join the employer contribution pension scheme is also available.

Shift Laboratory Technician

Food Chemistry Department
Salary Dependant upon Experience

An opportunity has arisen for a Shift Laboratory Technician to join our professional Food Chemistry Team. The role involves carrying out routine and non-routine analytical chemistry testing in a fast paced environment. You will be supporting Technicians within the department to ensure our high quality service is maintained.

To be successful in this role you will hold a GCSE’s grades A – C in a Science related subject. Full training will be provided.

The successful candidate will require the following skills:-

• Ability to work in a Team
• Good communication skills
• Good time management skills
• Flexible in your work approach
• Accuracy and Speed
• Attention to detail

This position is 35 hours a week on a rolling shift pattern working 4 days on, followed by 4 days off with a 30 minute break, including weekends & bank holidays

Shift Laboratory Technician x 3 Positions

- (Job Ref FM01)

Food Microbiology
Salary Dependant upon Experience

You will be based in the Food Microbiology Laboratory carrying out routine microbiology testing on food products for food borne/poisoning bacteria. You will work in a fast moving, fast turnaround department to ensure that the products get onto the supermarket shelves as quickly as possible. You will also be supporting Technicians in the Pathology Lab and Sample Receipt.

You will be expected to have a good general education with A’Levels or GCSE’s A-C Grades in Science or equivalent.

The successful candidate will require the following skills:-

• Ability to work in a Team
• Computer Literate
• Good communication skills
• Good time management skills
• Flexible in your work approach
• Accuracy and Speed
• Attention to detail

Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment would be desirable although full training will be given to the successful candidate.

This position is 35 hours a week on a rolling shift pattern, 1.30 pm to midnight, working 4 days on, followed by 4 days off with a 30 minute break, including weekends & bank holidays

Leading Technician

Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department
Salary Dependant upon Experience

An opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Leading Technician to join our professional Pharmaceutical Chemistry Team. The role involves carrying out testing within the section and performed correctly within the agreed schedule. This is a fast paced environment and you will ensure a full awareness of the requirements of Standard Test Methods and Operating Procedures and will work in compliance with the requirements of GMP. You will be supporting Technicians within the department to ensure our high quality service is maintained.

To be successful in this role you will hold a degree in Chemistry and have experience in Practical Chemistry in a contract pharmaceutical chemistry laboratory environment. You will hold the following skills:- experience in chromatography and basic wet chemistry techniques along with speed and efficiency, accuracy of recording data and flexible in your work approach. It is desirable that you have method development/method development validation experience for this post.

This position is 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm
